Shunting assistant SAMIRA

The SAMIRA project aims to develop a smart rearview camera with AR for shunting units. The sensor equipment and collected data has the potential to lead to autonomous shunting. Project website

Innovative Freight Wagon Wagon 4.0

The aim of the Wagon 4.0 project is to open the freight wagon subsystem for automation of critical functions, e.g. brake tests or parking brake. This is achieved by featuring a power supply, a communication system and lightweight control components to the wagon. Project website

Feasibility of hybrid and battery trains

Simulation of route profiles, analysis of technological solutions and recommendations to German Ministry of Railways on future grants to support introduction. Report (in German)

Modelling of sanding in wheel/rail contact

The behaviour of sand for friction enhancement in the wheel/rail interface was modelled analytically. It can be shown that the adhesion surface increases. Paper presented at ICRT conference

Rare Event Simulation

Rare Event simulation makes it possible to quantify the probability of extreme rarely observed events, such as catastrophic failures in brake systems. The advantage is the reduced number of required simulations.

Big Data Analysis

Big data analysis can be fruitful when looking for the most effective way to address maintenance challenge.
